I didn't think there was much traffic here on BD lately as there wasn't much new stuff being posted, but seeing that this post is less than 24 hours old and nearly 5 pages long, I can see I was wrong.
I actually like the sub-sections, it makes it easier to find certain things and not have to look through up to 114 pages of threads trying to find that one thing you are looking for.
It's kind of a housekeeping tool IMO, and I like it.
I have a suggestion for another one, move the open seats and rides wanted thread to a sub-section of it's own. It will be much easier to identify separate rides than having to look through 30 some posts looking for the one you saw. Require that they contain a date in the thread title so once the ride date comes and goes, it can be deleted by the mods, another housekeeping tool.
WD.

Please define "several". Is that 2 people? Or 500? And compared to how many members of the WA forum?
You'll never get 100% agreement on this, so wouldn't the goal be to make the majority happy? Maybe you should post one of your cute, colorful little polls for us to take? Make it a public vote, instead of hiding in your Husker Red man-cave deciding how this will go?
But regardless, I agree with my bald buddy Mo... Speaking of which, MO - am I gonna see you tomorrow night??

But regardless, I agree with my bald buddy Mo... | Exactly. At the end of the day, we will do what is best for the WA forum. I don't really care which way we go, as long as it does what we want it to do. Mo has this conspiracy theory that I am trying to fulfill some forum fantasy. I have other things to worry about.
We are growing as a community and having some sub sections keeps things easier to find. On the other hand, I don't want to open the WA page and see 50 sub forums, like some other sites have.
I (and other mods) had received PMs and calls noting that a freshwater forum would gather greater interest from those that fish the lakes and rivers. Thus that forum. If you have ying, you gotta have yang. So it only made sense to have a matching saltwater reports forum.
There are a couple ways to do this. We are going to do a trial run of our current configuration and see how it goes.

I suggested the new layout to keep consistency with the rest of the site.
It's similar to the California format.
We think it it will just take a little getting used to.

And a little time to get going.(freshwater) A lot of you do fish freshwater be it rivers or lakes.............some how it has all of a sudden gotten uncool to admit(what the hell is wrong with that???) Sadly if it is put to a time frame it will fail...........Lots of the lakes are closed now river fishing other then steelies is winding down and it might just snow soon. Really I hope that it is given a chance, because frankly the other options IMO for freshwater SUCK. We have a very special thing here we can SAY WHAT WE FEEL. I hope that both sides will grow as I have meet some really good people on here. I will fish for anything that swims............I spend a lot of time on the CA boards because they have freshwater guys on their freshwater board seems that we could have the same thing up here. Also what a cool tool to HELP GET SUPPORT FROM ALL fisherman in battles that can and will hurt SPORTFISHING. If this place is going to get the ELITIST BULLSHIT that the other boards have to offer then I personally will ride off into the sunset. If growing and finding ALL the information I need in one place would be really GREAT. Otherwise it will be as it was...............get a report here go to another site for a lake report another site for a river report . That would be OK I guess just sad.

| This will never happen on BD
After some getting used to, the new format seems to work well for me. I like the ability to go to the (salt) fish reports and get the latest info without jumping through unrelated discussions. The other discussions are really good too - but when the hunt is on, IT IS all about fish. Regional indicators (MAs) should be mandatory info in the (salt report) titles, IMHO.
Example; (thinking ahead to butt season) I am leaving for MA-4 and MA-5 in 45 minutes. I want to know the latest info & don't have much time for small talk. Give me the data, IT IS time to go fishin !

Ken aka WD it's called a search function.
My head hurts from all the change that has gone on in the past week on the site.
Mo keep up the fight. I am there for you
Troy you and scott have the freshwater forum and as soon as you get scott to use spell check and take his meds for ADHD you two can have a fun time singing KUME BY YAA by the lake.
outtadblu Line of sight is better than heads down in the cockpit and day of the week.
plus 1 tommy likes things to disappear some times
Thrasher_1 back at you and you have a better day tomorrow. (that is a request not an requirement)

If you tied any saltwater King salmon/halibut/ling tail to tail with any freshwater crappie/bass/catfish, which one do you think will win?

1. The Saltwater forum is for "Washington Saltwater Fishing Reports" KEY word REPORTS.
2. The Fresh water forum is for "Washington Freshwater Rivers, Streams and Lake Fishing Reports and discussion"
I understand this to mean ALL fresh water threads?
3. The main Wa forum is for fishing discussion and baiting Tommy
Ok is that simple enough?
I will have to learn to adjust just like the rest of you guys.
IT'S time to get back to talking about FISHING.
I am unable to go to the BD party as I am on standby to work Sat and next week.
Due to ocean conditions we haven't had a barge in weeks so it's 40 trucks a day time. I am in the middle of a 2 week layoff, I need $$$$$.
Mo out.

Guys,
My BD shortcut is configured to open the main forum, Washington State Fishing...double click and I can see some fresh intel--the reports and what's going on in the world. One stop shopping...reports, politics, and Mo. There are times when the Forum is slow...one glance and you're all caught up. Since Politics, Fishing Rights, found it's own site, I haven't once opened it to see what's new. It used to stick out, new right at the top...now it's sort of buried. Once the Salt season starts I see everyone will be monitoring and chatting it up on the Salt Reports Forum and the Main Forum will take a back seat.
Is there a way to have all new threads or replies to hit the Main Forum and then eventually make there way to their sub forum once the thread peters out? Maybe after 24 hours of no activity, automatically moves to the correct sub forum.
Never mind me, just some wishful thinking. I like the one stop shopping forum...I must be getting old!
Later,
BuckFly |
