Everett Bayside Derby this weekend $2000 1st place.

Bayside Derby this weekend. Who is fishing the Bayside Derby this weekend? Weather looks rough but would better your chances for a $2000.00 fish. Less contestants=less competition? 2 day derby.
2009 Fishing Derby

Anyone going?

Thanks for the heads up, wish I could fish it but I am out of town this weekend with my wife. Good luck and be safe, sounds like heavy winds.

Here is the 1 keeper we took from area 8.1 fishing out of the wind!
We also landed 5 other just sub-legal blackmouth.
When i weighed this 8.25# fish the leader was 10.5.

Here are a couple pictures from day 2 at the Bayside Blackmouth Derby

Today we rounded the point at Mukilteo with 1 ft. wind waves instead of the 3-5 footers from Saturday. Off to the Bar we went. 1st fish in the box was the smallest keeper at 5lb. within5 minutes of having the gear on the bottom. Fish 2-3 came at the same time! Double header 8 and 9 lb. fish with a red jet sled within spitting distance on our port side. An hour or so later we released a nice native in the 6lb. range and soon after had a nice hatchery 7/8lb. fish at the back of the boat but the net handle was half a fish to short and then the hook went flying! Lost that 1.
Overall it was a good day on the water. Pretty windy but not as rough as Saturday. we ended up with 8 hookups, 5 legal length fish too the boat, 3 19/21" fish to the boat and 3 nice take homes.
All the fish hit coyote or sonic edge spoons on the east side of the bar.

Troy, Ted told me a little story about his return from Skunk bay on Saturday, a few of the waves had 15+ ft.holes on the other side and he took a couple big ones into the windsheild of that 26ft. Northriver.

Nice fish Gary. It looked on the ferry site like it was a little calmer but still had winds over 20 so on Possession I know you had a little bit of a ride.

15 ft wave in Puget Sound? I don't think so. I'm sure he took a couple big ones but they were probably more like 6 to 8 at most. It's amazing how big they seem when your in them but 15ft just doesn't happen in the sound.

What won the derby anyway? I spent the weekend working on my kicker motor.
