And we still are waiting for the Audit of the Crab catch money that they (State) have received to support the crab catch counting that has not happened correctly or reported as to how many are caught. But they still want more $10 fine for late or not turned in crab catch cards. You would think that area 9 and 10 would have been slamed as well. But they still have Quota left but areas 6, 7, and 8 have been used up. Not by us but BY the Tribes and the Commies.

We just skip the Puget Sound hassles and head south. Gotta few nice bays that we can work in a 16 foot shit boat, and last year harvested 105 in 3 days, which was a little on the slow side since we had a 9 foot tide exchange for a couple days.
Little extra driving, but its worth it. Did I mention the bar shares a parking lot with the launch?

Sorry, I forgot to bitch about the missing in action audit.
Also, that despite the CRC legislation being lobbied for and ultimately passed the Staff had not prepared any sort of plan for that first summer so it was another opportunity lost. For a couple of years I was really upset thinking (how naive was I?) that delay of a year in implementing the CRC would delay definitive information and the anticipated change in allocation. What was I possibly thinking????

Got both the Summer and Winter Catch cards at that time.

In the past they have not charged for this at Hook line and sinker in Smokey Point or the Fred Myers in Marysville. Common Practice to issue the summer and not the winter till you request it. enjoy the crab

Winter cards are free.
My experience, setting pots in 8, 9 and 10 is that the reason crabbing is re-opening in 9 and 10 is that there are less crab there. By managing against the pre-season estimates, they've concluded that there's catch "left" in 9 and 10, when in reality the numbers there are down. The reason the sport catch was high in 8 is because we had to move our pots there to find crab.
It's a super hard problem -- unless they're running test boats (which I think they should) or doing some sampling for effort in each area -- the pure "catch" numbers don't tell enough of the story IMO.

I have been out of the area so I an not able to verify, but here is a report that was on Pacific Northwest Salmon Anglers the other day:
"Saw you out there around 9:30 on our way south. Had an awesome day crabbing as we pulled out 34 keeper dungeness in two soaks. Kept our largest 25 for 5 licenses. Pretty incredible crabbing as we had many over 8 inches.
Only soaked the lines for about an hour off lyle pt without a bite. Marked some decent bait on the bottom.
Going to be hitting area 13 hard for for the next couple months."
