I got back from ND last week. Great hunting as usual. I've been to that resturant/bar in Mott. Pretty good steak opening weekend.

I'm mostly a pheasant, quail, and dove hunter. Beretta O/U or my little 20g side by side. It's a lot more fun now that I have a springer.

Dog-gon-it, it's about 10years for us also. Let's compare notes this summer. We usually haunt at the Cannonball Saloon Saturday after hunting, it' has new owners this year and they really revamped their food service. Where did you guys hunt this year?

Day 1 we hunted Vern and Barb's Cannonball River
Day 2 we hunted I think the new owners of the Cannonball Saloons spread
and day 3 we always save for Lester Braekles.

I live for chasing seaducks and then upland on the east side. Have a couple of layout boats and just burlapped about 4 dozen foamers Went out with two buddies yesterday and had to quit shooting in 20-30 minutes. Took a while, but limits of mature drakes are worth the extra time!!

Northern,

For the last 7 years we've been hunting mainly on Aaron Krauters land since he was our guide. This year he has taken a job in Fargo, so we had a new guide. I never remember the farms we hunt, but day one was about 15 miles north of town, day two was several miles south, and 3 and 4 were just a few miles north just off the highway. All are small draws and fields since there are only two of us. I probably saw you in town and didn't even know it. Did you try the new Pheasant Fart drink at the Cannonball?

No, but I did bring back up a turkey egg a few years ago on a $20/bet. Never could stomach eggs.

I thought I may as well add in here... For my bird shooting I picked up a Mossberg 935 Magnum Auto-Loader in camo. I couldn't hit shit last year, so this year I went and got Laser Eye Surgery, and joined the Seattle Trap & Skeet Club. Did my first sporting clays shoot a couple weeks ago, and WHAT a blast that was. Granted, not a sporting clays gun, but I'm in it to improve my killing!!!! Anyways, mostly ducks and geese, but will shoot anything else I can eat as well. I tried Sea-Ducks last winter, was a LOT of fun!!!! Not bad eating either "ONLY EAT THE BREASTS"!!!!! Legs are tough as hell, and gizzards taste like HELL!!!

I'm also a deer/elk hunter.... I shoot a BRNO ZKK-602 "Czechoslovakian Made" In Winchester 300 Magnum "custom hand HOT loads". Laminated thumbhole custom stock, with a Harris Bipod attached, with 3x12 Ultimate Illuminate Redfield Scope. Comes in at 13 3/4lbs. For long range shooting I have a 8x24 ATN "sniper style" scope with Caliber Adjusted bullet drop adjustment for Zero-Aim at any yardage from 100-1000yds + 1lb. It's a BITCH for shooting off-hand, but I'll guarantee, I won't see anyone else in the woods with my choice of arsenal.

My old girl at 13 is too old to hunt--but we sure had fun in the past!

My fishing and hunting has slowed to a crawl (literally) since the end of July. A serious back injury has laid me up since then.. So get out and do it while you can and make me jealous with reports....

All I can do at this point in my rehab is road hunt. Teamed up with a friend with hip problems a couple of weeks ago. We bagged enough slow chickens (rough grouse) for a couple of tasty meals. Single shot 20 gauge was all we needed. We had bigger artillery in the truck in case we saw something serious, like an elk, but no luck. He was able to pull enough rainbow trout from the river for another nice meal, but I could not fish yet. What a difference getting a year older makes.

Love to hunt birds. We did fair on the Washington openner. Dogs had a real problem picking up cripples this year. Noty a normal thing for them. Lots of very strong wind, I guess it did something with the scent. Anyway we had nothing to complain about.

The cool thing this year was that we took my sons roomates truck. It gave my work horse a rest. Need to save her to tow the boat around. This pheasant hunting aint going to be as much fun when we are forced to use steel in 2011. I know it is only on any release site or game management area but that is a large part of our area!

Steele isnt too bad Dave. Skin on upland birds is thin. I dont think it will matter much, if you are a decent shot

I get out from time to time both on the salt(ehem... when i get the phone
call) and out to shoot the park ducks over fresh water...
