Flake Ice Maker?

Hey guys, I found a flake ice maker on CL, it will make up to 200lbs in 24 hrs and has I think an 80lb storage container. Do you think it'd be hard to get 400 or so lbs of ice out of that thing to go fishing with? Does the flake ice hold up better than cubed? It seems that flake ice will pack together and work more like block ice and stay froze longer. Any input would be great.
thanks

Flake ice rocks - nothing packs better than flake or shaved. But the stuff at WP is better (stays colder and lasts longer) and cost effective (cheap).

You'll have to empty the bin every 80lbs. so that it can keep making more. What do you plan to store it in? Coolors? You may have some wet ice by the time it is all done making 400 lbs. Maybe you could make a larger insulated storage bin? Flake ice my fav ice.

TT

Hey TR,

Can you or anyone else elaborate on where to get this WP ice?

Thanks,

Regardless of the shape, the colder ice is, the longer it will last. Ice can be 31 deg or minus-50 deg. If it's made with saltwater, it will melt faster and absorb heat faster. Most of the flake ice the commies use is very cold 'salt ice'.

I have a flake ice machine and it is great all you need is a chest freezer to help hold excess ice if needed, but mine makes plenty of ice to take care of my needs . You will not regret it if you get it for a decent price!
