It does not take more then 30 seconds to fill out a catch record card. It is our duty as sportman to be informed of the laws and to abide by them. It is our duty to carry tape measures, pens, and the tools necessary to comply with the local law. People want better fishing, crabbing and hunting but they don't want to obide by the laws set to help obtain the better fishing hunting and crabbing. Know the rules, follow the rules and don't complain when you get fined for not following them.

Yes the rules apply to me. My point is shit happens and fish and game doesnt bend. I agree with you buzz2401 and I do try to do my part, however once again, shit happens! I get sick of hearing about the technicality tickets ruining peoples good times. too many fish, to small, no license at all, great reasons for tickets but what about the guy whose license is sitting on the dash of his truck? his trip just got more expensive because he was excited and jumped in the boat, and that is the bullshit part

Lol, wallet on dash ya I have done that before, but we can't get mad when we get a ticket for being forgetful it sucks but the warden is just doing his job. For all the game warden knows 1BADM6 could of been dropping off crab and going back out to get more. By makeing you record your catch immediatly it is a way for them to make sure you are not over harvesting. Of course guys that want to break the law are going to break the law and probably gonna get a way with it, but thats just the way it is. I don't exactly like the game wardens or the police but I understand that they are just doing there job and that there job has a purpose. And yes I do get pissed when I get a ticket for doing 70 in a 60 but its my own fault and I can't blame the cop for giving me a ticket. Just laugh and call my sell a dumbass

Or maybe in a week when he had more time? Get fuckin real. | FYI, My pen was in my tackle box and yes, I do sometimes fill it in at the ramp if I forget to do it on the water. I'm not a crook and I do my best to follow the letter of the law at all times, especially when it comes to our wildlife. I support many organizations that benefit wildlife. My biggest gripe isn't hardly the fact that I broke the law, I'm fine with that. It's the amount of the fine that ticks me off. If we would have caught our limit of crab we would have been looking at a $1821.00 fine. That is the bullshit part. Our state has their hands in the pockets of some very hard working and law abiding citezens and I think the real crime is the punishment they are handing down for a minor mistake.
Our legal system is based on leniency but when our state overspends after we are already one of the highest taxed states in the nation then the money has to come from somewhere. I would have faced a lesser fine for stealing the crab. Somehow these fines need to be controlled.
That's all I'm going to say about this and I really wanted to write this as a warning to everyone. Don't do what I did.

Let me get this straight. You can get your bait and gear just so, set your depth, enter a mark on your GPS, launch gear, haul gear, place and correctly measure the carapace with a caliper gauge, but can't scratch a a box on the catch record card??? That's just too difficult an aspect of the sport to completely master??? I appreciate all your stories and will make doubly certain I scratch those bastard dungeness first thing. Your stories have helped hone my skills in the field.

Mike hit it on the head. I can't remember a time that I've bothered punching my card after docking. Not saying it's right. Bottom line is yeah a warning would be nice but as TT stated I've never seen Fish and Game ever give a break, the fact remains that the problem will probably never be duplicated by the same individuals. But they (fish and game) really don't have to be so fucking tricky about shit though. Sorry about the shitty experience and thank you for sharing. Definately spare'd me a ticket down the road.

doesnt seem like rocket science to me.
Toss pots, catch crab, Measure crab, mark crab, repeat until you get your 5 crab
We bitch about the Tribe, we bitch about the Commercials, yet when we break the law we bitch about the WDFW... Priceless....
It sucks when you're "that guy" but chalk it up to experience and Im sure you probrably wont forget the next time.

It kinda goes with my theory of...........there are no more open seats now..............the lawyer and now the secretary(to fill out paperwork in a timely manner) have taken them all.
My new xmas list:
#1 Shyster to define all the legalanize and let me know, what and where I can fish for it.
#2 Sexretary with BIG rack to complete all the required paperwork and obtain any special permits or required licenses.
#3 A really big bag of money to pay for #1 and 2 and help offset any mistakes by #1 and 2 in the area of state support payments also known as BULLSHIT fines.
PS Todd I was given a warning once.............Had to do with CATCHING AND RELEASING more then five trout. I kept none. Apparently you can only CATCH five not just retain more then five so even in the catch and release mode it is only 5. Burn the trout hatcheries and plant all the lakes and river with all 3 flavors of bass, largemouth, smallmouth and STRIPERS.
