| Neah Bay coho report
Was out there Saturday. Started the day working the shoreline for the elusive king. Couldn't find one. Crew got restless, so I headed for that bouy out there 10 miles NW of Tatoosh just under the border. Found small coho milling around on the top, along with bird groups here and there and also whales. Spent 4 hours catching around 20 coho in order to keep 6 clipped ones. At least half came from trolled flies right on the surface and that was fun. Wished I would have brought my "I only fly fish" friend so he could have got some.

Excellent, but then deteriorated in the afternoon. The good news was that we were done by then.

I'm glad you got into them. We like to run trout gear and 6 wt.fly gear for them Coho. Once in a while we hookup to a big guy and watch the line just scream away, nearly getting spooled--too much fun. Did you see anyone in the dock with Kings?
Thanks for the report!!

So it sounds Like NB hasn't really turned on yet for the kings and the silvers are still small? Any other reports from last weekend?
In years past when have the Kings shown up ? Or is it the ol' "you gotta be there when they go through" story?
I LOVE fishing up there but there's only so much dinero in the fishing budget ..Any insight as to the best time to hit NB would be appreciated . Thanks everyone keep up the great threads.

Charlie,
If you want the big hogs go up in the center of the "C" you are familiar with when halibut fishing and fish in 400' of water.
Be prepared to fish as deep as 275' deep, but just keep an eye on your fish finder and keep your gear where the fish are marking.
My favorite area is 22 miles NW of LP, produces well every year and is normally where you find the tribal trollers. If they are not in the area, find out where they are or have been fishing as that is where you want to be.
Fresh bait has always been my #1 go to out there, so a trip to Pt Defiance will be in hand as I don't know of anyone on the peninsula that sells live/fresh bait.
Good luck.
WD.

WD. | Thanks Ken,
I will defenitely be heading that way. Good thang I have downriggers with 500' of cable! Gotta love the Scotty's dragging 15# Balls with 325' out. Just praying on the weather!!!!!! I hate Bait but I will probably resort to it for the Kings. The bait at Pt. Defiance has been really small so I will Probably Brine some frozen and running head holders.
