I fish about 100 days a year. I have a large group of friends that are very hard core ( these guys are some of the best fishermen anywhere) We fish from daylight to dark and will take on just about any water. We are not crazy but we definitely push the limits. Big waves, a little wind, 80 mile run or a nasty river, with little or no sleep are the norm for us. From time to time we are all looking for an extra guy to fill a crew , We are all calm guys that do not get out of control ( fishing is not a big drinking party to us) but we have our share of fun while we are out on the water. No one that gets angry and likes to yell is a member of any of our crews. Any people that freak out when things are not going to plan are not welcome.
I fish lakes, rivers, ocean, and a little in the sound. I tend to have the most open spots when it comes to steelhead because the weather sucks and I like to run white water, and odd drifts where we might have to pull the boat over a tree or two.
If what you have heard so far still sounds good we should get together I am a member of four branches of PUGET SOUND ANGLERS ( you can check them out on the web at Puget sound anglers. Org) this would be a good place to meet. Gig harbor (2nd TUE), south king county( 3rdWED) Auburn (4TH WED), and Renton (2ND WED)

Uh, since this is my first post on the Washington page of this site, for some reason I can't figure out, it seems like a guy isn't too welcome to offer to pay for fuel and ice, food, pop, help clean the boat at the end of the trip and so forth if he doesn't post all the time on the Washington BD board. I joined Bloodydecks a few years ago mainly to tune in on the SoCal and Baja long range world. Since 1995, I go long range once a year (this year it'll be another 10 day trip in November). I'd go every week or two if I had the money. I've caught more than a handful of albies, Yfs, yellows and wahoo down there.

Anyhow, I dialed in tonight because I was going to offer to buy gas, ice and food, help clean the boat and generally be a standup guy if I can get a couple spots for myself and my 22 year old son (bigger, smarter, faster, better looking than me) on someone's boat for albacore off the Washington coast this summer or September. But, it sounds like a guy is not welcome without posting a lot first. Hey, I live in Spokane and don't have a lot of experience in Washington marine waters except for mooching blackmouth in south Puget Sound when we lived in Olympia in the 70s and 80s. Seems like posting with little experience is wasting everyone's time.

I have plently of experience on small vessels and can pull my weight. I have plenty of good grade 30# rigs just right for albies. My son Chris and I are easy to get along with and we never forget that fishing is supposed to be fun. If someone would be willing to give us a shot on their boat even though I don't run my mouth alot on this board, we'll definitely hold up our end of the log.

Doug -

#1 Nobody will take you on their boat if you bitch like you did in the above post (about posting to get a ride).

#2 The real reason that CAPTAINS like to see a guy post is so that they can get to know you. You may be an okay guy, but how are we supposed to know that if we don't know you?

#3 Why should anyone take you on their boat if you don't contribute and help the other members on this forum? You're asking other people to help you, so help others and/or start contributing/asking questions.

#4 GET SOME "ACT RIGHT" pills and maybe someone will invite you on their boat.

Oh yea...almost forgot...

WELCOME TO BLOODYDECKS (THE WASHINGTON FORUM)

Doug, what type of ecologist are you? That might be a pretty decent foot in the door if you have some fish/water/weather background. Maybe some valuable info could come from that?

Easy on the sob story. It might work at iFish, but this place isn't sunshine, daisies and lollipops. Some might think its tender and want to take pity on you, but not here. This place is about kill or be killed fishing, charging hard, and coming home at the end of the day to a solid group of anglers that have a pile of death sloshing around in their boat.

Damn, what was your very first clue?

This is not the place for the thin skinned, weak kneed, PC, earth mother, tree lovin' granola head sob sister types! Oh yeah, I forgot; or the very needy!!

I work during the week and have some weekends off when I'm not taking my daughter to soccer tournaments, any way if you need some one with some knowledge feel free to PM me . I live in the Kelso area and have saturdays and sundays off and can share all expenses. should have alot of time from middle of August through September. Fished out of Santa Cruz for years before I came up here. Looking forward to fish out of Ilwaco , or Westport. this girl was a boat Ho from San Juan ,Puerto Rico and wouldn't leave me alone!!

Todd you guys seem like an awsome group of guys to hang out with. Its hard for me to find other people as into fishing as I am, and I don't have the badass fishing boat you do, nor the time you have to do all the fishing you do, NOR the freezer space you must have for all that freaking halibut you catch!

If you are Captain, this is where you can post your ride, your specs, what species you target, and if you are looking for some diehard fisherman to fill your seats.

A couple things to remember:

1. If you suck at fishing and life, nobody wants you on their boat. Learning a new fishery is OKAY. Sucking is not.

2. If you come here and post your info. and then never come back to contribute to this brotherhood.....nobody wants you on their boat, and your post will most likely be pulled.

3. Don't use this thread for general discussion.

The old thread was sunset because crews change, people change, and boat ownership status changes. The old thread has not been deleted, so if you want to do a copy and paste into this thread....you are more then welcome.

Tom,

Thanks for giving me a venue to finally become a BDer. I'm not quite sure i know what the hell I'm doing yet. I thought the internet was only for Porn. I guess that is not the case. As you know I've been fishing my whole life and I spend countless hours a day thinking about fishing. We recently finished working on our 20ft Northriver commmander and are planning a launch this week. I am looking forward to becoming a more active member.

Thanks,
Garth Enger Aka: (Neptune cause I control all the fishes in the sea)

Fellow BDers - I can vouch for this guy. YOU KNOW WHY? Because I taught him how to fish. Ha ha. He doesn't have a lot of time to post because he has to MAKE THAT MONEY at his new job, but he more than knows his way around a boat. If you have a seat for tuna, contact Garth. I know he has been slobering all over our reports.

He has lots of ocean time fishing for the pink meat. I've been with him in some rough shit, and I don't think he has that little receptor in his brain that tells him he should be puking over the side. AND if you're going to get in a bar fight, make sure this guy is on your side!

WELCOME TO BLOODYDECKS, BROTHA!

Well I will start off by saying that I was born ans raised here in WA. I am in the Navy and back home for the next 4 years or so........until the Navy tells me other wise.......Just moved back up here from San Diego and I am glad to be back in WA.

I have a small boat with no trailer and no truck to put it in.....( got it when my father passed way) . So I am looking for someone to show me the ropes on some salmon trolling, bass fishing and maybe some Tuna fishing. I have only fished for salmon from the shore of the sound and rivers. I am a avid trout fisherman. I am not much one for C&R fishing, I like to eat what I catch.

so if you feel like showing this sailor te ropes, please let me know.

I can bring food, help out with fuel, clean the boat or what ever else you need help with.

thanks

Scott
