Area 9 Report

I ha a chance to get out yesterday with the boys for a day of fishing. We got skunked last time out, but this time we got lucky. Started out on Possession and didn't mark or catch a thing. Then we moved over to Useless Bay and about a half hour into it the right rod goes off and it's fish on. The kids handled it all by themselves and got it to the boat. No fin and in the boat. We went back and went thru the area again and the left rod gets hit. My turn (since the Pro-release didn't release) and it also had the right number of fins. A bit smaller than the first, but still a nice 9-10 lb blackmouth. We fished for another hour or two and didn't hit another fish. We marked almost no bait and had no shakers all day. The Everett checker had 4 fish for 15 boats, including ours. Blackmouth season has been pretty slow for me this year until today. It's always a good one when you catch fish, but it's even better when it's with the kids.

Thanks for the report. Nice job!!! I love it when kids catch fish!

I'm heading to Double Bluff / Useless tomorrow morning. Did you hit the fish out closer to the Bluffs or way back in the bay? Last weekend we caught our fish way back inside the bay by the houses and that's where we marked far more bait. Also, if you don't mind me asking, did you get them on hootchies or spoons?

Thanks,
Slabby

Caught at the bluffs, one on a coho killer and the other on a hootchie. I've never had much luck inside the bay, but I haven't fished here much either.

Ya kept the faith and Neptune rewarded you with two fish to spill on their blood on your Deck. Congrats!

Good job. I've fished that area for many year's. It can be very good or very slow. I've always found you either get um quick or move on.

Great day for you and your boy's. Damn I wish I was out there this week. Nice cool mornings, some sun and calm water. Perfect winter blackmouth combination.

Hit Double Bluff 1st thing this morning. The morning started badly when we lost a DR ball in the 1st 10 minutes on what must have been a lost crab pot line. Lots of sun, flat water and plenty of boats but no fish for us. We moved over north of Pt. No Pt. at tide change and trolled south with the incoming tide. Once we got down south of Pilot Point we managed two 8lbers. The farther south we got the more bait and fish we marked.

Slabby,

Was out at Double as well on Sat. Lots of bait, deeper, but no takers.

Great stuff! And HUGE KUDOS for getting the kids (and yourself in the avatar) into proper flotation gear!

I'm "between" Arimas right now, but will be sure to look for you out there this summer!
