What does not go in your Rod Holder
A. Your Penis
B. Fuel
If you picked B you are a pervert. If you picked A you are a dumbass like me.
My Fuel inlet and rear Port rod holder are inches from each other. I post this in the hope it will prevent another mistake like this. I pulled up to the fuel dock and tied off. I open the fuel inlet and went to look for the attendant. Nobody was around. After few minutes the attendant showed. I got back in the boat and the attendant handed me the fuel hose. I turned and stuck the nozzle in the HOLE. If I had done this with a girlfriend I would have had immediate feedback! As it was I looked down and screamed at myself WTF! I will pull the boat and bring it home to drain the bilge. About 2 gallons. No OPEN FLAMES around my boat PLEASE!

And you are man enough tell us this, good for you!
Although I ocasionaly step on my dick I don't ever remember sticking it in a rod holder
even to,
This happens too often and it can cause very bad things to happen to your boat, fortunately having outboards eliminate most of the ignition sources.
I'd suggest dumping bilge cleaner and warm/hot water in the bilge, soak for a few hours, drain her and letting her air out for several days. Green Tip of the Day, don't let the bilg water get to a storm drain Put an oil absorbent pad in a 5ga bucket and drain the bilge into the bucket. Dump the bilge water down your sewer and properly dispose of the pad. |

I always do!!!

My last trip to Canada a guy in an Alaska Bulkhead Trophy pumped 50 gals in his bilge at the local gas station and then drove into Island Wests parking lot with the Bilge pump spewing fuel into the parking Lot! Scary, but luckily the Bilge pumps operate and pump fuel out without igniting the fuel. Must be part of the safety measures specified in manufacturing. In comes the Fire Dept. to clean up the mess and pump his bilge! You were lucky to see your mistake so Quickly!
And two days later a guy who I have seen up there before walked up to my boat at the Eagle Marine fuel dock and told me he pumped 40 gals. in his rod holder and had to hand pump it all out, and buy 15 gals of commercial bilge cleaner.
These made a marked impression on ME!!!!! Expensive Mistake!!!!

RtB,
Bilge pumps are sealed and most marine electric and electronics are ignition protected but it only takes a small spark and no more boat.

You're not the first to do this and you certainly won't be the last. Good call on pulling the boat. If that fuel touched the water, the ticket is $$$!!

I guess I should have cum clean......actually it was "B"....too embarrassed to reveal the truth in a post.....after some liquid started coming out the the back side drain holes, I thought what the hell...looked over the rail and the deck was covered about 1/2 inch....4+ gallons of gas......thought oh man all I need is a short spark and it's over........figured hasmat would be called if I said something to the gas man so I took off...gas evaporates real fast, so down the road I went.......that won't happen again.......check off---forgot drain plug and gas in the rod holder........hey, anything once right ?????????????????
Please don't start shitting on me for letting it hit the road...it evaporated before it hit the curb......
