I just got back from a day long run out to LaPush.

The seas were tight and tall.

Good sized wind waves. Seas 5-6 (but I swear some were bigger) and at 7 seconds. Ride out took almost 3 hours. The ride back was still lumpy but a lot quicker with the wind and seas at my back.

I got as seasick as I have ever been. We threw the first halibut back (mistake as I called it because I was getting too sick), and ended up with one halibut and 3 nice sized lings.

Here's a pic of the bigger ling.

Way to be JT...Sorry you got sick, but at least you have something to show for it. That is a nice ling...what did he swallow up?

Pipe jigs was what we were using.

I usually us a big B2 squid with a big gulp grub tail on a slider tuna cord. But we broke one off in the halibut's mouth that we kept, and the other is stuck on the bottom of the pacific ocean.

I had more stuff to tie, but when you're sick, tying knots is about the last thing on earth that you want to do. Hence, the pipe. Insert pipe to swivel....you're done.

Made it out both days for halibut out of Neah Bay. I agree with the report already given for saturday. Some real big sneakers would move through. Today there there were some breaking 9 to 10 footers on the way out. Mostly five footers close and tight. Long ride. No wind waves to speak of though. The big ones came in sets of three. You could see them coming from a long way away. It was not a wind wave breaking. Just a set of three huge swells. One slapped us and put some watrer inside. Woke up the sick guys on the deck and washed the slime of the fish we were boating, off them. Will post some picks and maybe a bit of video in a few days. Just caught the heck out of the lings and just so so on the halibut.

Got to visit with the Washington fish and game boys on saturday. No problems with them. One of them knew me from one of the sites I visit. Maybe here or elsewhere. We were able to educate the new guy on one spieces of fish we had as he was checking our fishing licenses. It was a bocaccio. I guess the first he had saw. He did not know what it was. But it was orange and well....... Nice guys and a good discussion about crazy laws and difficult to understand stuff within the regs and such. With six guys on the boat and canadian and washington licenses to hold the new guy sure had his hands full of paper. Wish I had taken a picture of that!
