they are actually considering opening a chinook season on the lake this year as the sammmamish river run is so big. If so, take advantage of it with all the ocean closures going on. I used to fish the shit out of the lake when I lived up there, it is such an underutilized fishery and can produce fantastically. Back in the day my buddies and me used to take the party favors down to the shorline at seward park and nail HUGE rainbows just casting as far out as you could with an egg sinker and powerbait and getting completely blotto. When the sokeye run, BAM, combat fishing but limits can come quick. It'll cost you some $$$, but I could tell you where you'd have a good chance at a sturgeon in the lake also, they like the easy pickens, but then again using live bait for em is illegal so I wouldn't even consider it......(anymore). Enjoy your outing, once it warms up a bit, that lake could explode, then the only competition is the waterskiing and jetskiis. Go to green lake and catch the 5-10lb trout that live in there!! I went to high school 2 blks from there and spent many first and second periods at the lake.

There are shitloads of nice perch in the lake generally 25-40 ft the pea hole had lots of fish on it last week, remember there is no limit on perch in Lake washington!!!!North end of Mercer there is a green bouy just inside of there is a wicked edge to a flat traditionally lots of perch.A dropshot type rig with 2 hair jigs tipped with a taste of nightcrawler has filled many a cooler for me.Water was cold last weekend surface temp of 45.6-46.4 but.....saw lots of perch around 30-40 and had trout flashing our plastic on alot of the shallow points.I know that there is a club bass tournment this weekend on the lake but it is a Saturday only do'in.Hope it helps and Good Luck!!!

Thanks. Lowland lakes opener is this weekend too. I figured that would pull lots of traffic away from LW. It is looking like it will be a little more boating and a little less fishing this trip.
