I lived in Casa Grande,,, 20+ years ago. There's an irrigation reservoir north of Eloy (or at least there used to be) about 8-10 miles north on 87, then east a mile or 2. It's kind of a little shit hole with poor shore access and no launch ramp, might be fun with a canoe or float tube. I fished there a few times as a kid and never remember catching anything huge, but it had some bass, bluegill and cats, good way to kill an afternoon...

Patagonia lake is south of Tucson about an hour or so, bass, bluegill and slab crappie. I fished this lake a bunch of times and had a blast. There's also a lake up on Mt Lemon with trout.

I went to Arivaca lake one time, looked like a nice lake, but too windy and choppy for me so I had to go back home.

Here's some info:

Jesse,
There are some huge bass in the golf course ponds around town, just don't get caught fishing most of them. The best place is San Carlos, Sea of Cortez, it's only about 300 miles. That's where I keep my boat.

I love the TDs reply - shit I wish I had all the money I blew in that place right now!

You should defineatley try and hit Arivaca next time you are there. The lake is about 75 miles southwest of Tucson. It used to produce a lot of fish between 3 and 8lbs. They had a fish kill there a while ago and the lake has not been the same since, but it still gives up an occasional 10lber and they have had a lot of precipitaion the last couple of years so it should be on an up cycle. I moved to California about 5 years ago but still fish the lake about every 6 months. Fun lake to fish with lots of grass, trees, and a couple of long points that are automatic bites. I wish I was going there this month because the early spring bite can be great on Rattle traps, jigs, and drop shots. Patgonia can be good, Rosevelt can be good, and in the summer the fishing at Pena Blanca can be good, but I heard they were going to drane it - don't know if they did or not. Pena Blanca in the spring can be really tough though. The golf courses do great fishing as well.

I almost forgot about Parker Canyon Lake - most people do. The lake is southeast of Tucson at a higher elevation. They stock it with trout during the winter and the summer bass fishing can be very good giving up 5 to 8 lbers. Lots of grass and rock. Because the lake is at a higher elevation, I think the spawn happens a little later in the spring. It is a beautiful area.
