Wasn't able to make it down with Carlos, Ray and Amanda due to a little sick girl. I wasn't going to miss the flat surf. I was loaded up and
ready to go for Friday. My neighbor ask where I was going and I told them to the beach. They ask if they could tag along, I said not a problem.
We left San Antonio at 7:00am and got to the beach(sticks) around 9:45am. Tony and Jessica(neighbors) were blessed on there first trip to a Texas
beach with light wind, little to no surf and warm water. Their kids were shocked on how warm the water was. They were also surprised that we were
able to drive right on to the beach.
Rigged up a Mirro-Lure and Gold Spoon for light action. Got a couple of good blow ups on the top water but no takers. Tony didn't get a bump on the spoon. We went to the long rods with Shrimp and Fishbites rig on a double Siamese Nano Rig. They produced all the Whiting you wanted. Tony was having a blast catching fish from the beach. I rigged my HDX with a "Custom Dig Pully Rig" with a Whiting head and 17lb Suffix Tritanium. Casted that into the 2nd gut and waited. With the Whiting hitting I wanted to have some fun. I grabbed my 8lb, 7 1/2' spinner and rigged a 1/4oz sliding egg sinker with a long shank 2/0 "J" hook. The bait I was using was Ghost Shrimp. I pumped out 12 or so and put them in my pocket. Casted out to the 1st gut and had a blast!!!! I caught some of the biggest Whiting ever. They actually pulled drag on my light setup. To fish those Whiting like that was a blast. I will be bring out my 4lb out next time. While fishing for the Whiting my HDX goes off...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ .
Here are some pictures..

For the day we ended up with a cooler full of Whitting, one Pomp, Spade Fish(released), Two Stingrays(released), Pup Blacktip(released) and 6 or so Skipjacks on a gold spoon also released.
The kids had a great time again...
