| Northeast - Montauk
A report from the east.....I read these reports daily so I figured I would start doing some posting. Let the weekly treks to catch the fall run begin. Arrived in Montauk Sunday afternoon, started at Napeague around 1pm; hit the ususal spots (Hither, Ditch, Gin, Fort, Hero) with no results before I got to the point at about 5. Fished low and beginning of incoming tides with no luck until....i watched a striper hit my black and purple darter about 4 feet in front of the rocks at the very end of sunset.....what a sight! 32" 18lbs...nice and fat. First keeper on the VSB150...(love the sound of the drag) One of two guys next to me hooked up the minute after I landed mine, snapping his rod in process; also a keeper. Besides the two keepers, only saw one short the rest of the day. All 3 caught at Turtle.
