SM 8/16 Leopard On The Swimmy 2007!

With SC(see banner on this board) taking up so much of my damn time these days I have not really posted my surf fishing reports on BD. But, for the BDer's who don't visit the site I thought you might enjoy this. Fun shit.

Decided to head down after work again to target the leopards with the swimmy.

Like I said in my previous thread, last year at this time I started getting them on the swimbait. With the leo's swimming in the skinny it was time to fish the plastic.

Met Yen around 7p. He had some bait and fished his donut. Pretty cool and looks like a great challenge. I fished a 4" swimbait on my 4601 C3 Abu Garcia with 12lb Big Game. 7ft Quantum Runner Inshore for anybody that cares.

Started fishing and got ripped on my second cast. Almost shredded my swimmy. Then Yen has a bigger leo boil on his bait. The sharks were in no deeper than 12-15" of skinny water. Yen missed the fish but cool to see.

I kept fishing the swimmy while it was still light. Finally when I'm almost done I get boiled on no more than 10ft from me and it's game on. I would suggest using no less than 12lb when doing this. If so, you can always use a heavier leader.

Anyway, great fight on the light tackle and yes it put up one hell of a fight but that's what I was looking for.

Once again, the weapon of choice.

Shortly after the hook-up.

Battle is on.

15 minutes later. Fun shit.

Finally, after 20 minutes and some great runs, Yen tails the fish.

Shark on the swimmy.

Nice leopard.

Good bye and ready to fight another day.

Wounded swimmy.

If anybody is interested, I will set up a night next week to target the leopards on the swimmy.
