surf fishing so cal

iv'e been surf fishing here for a while in so cal with swim baits and other jigs but the sand crabs are showing more now so what is the ideal set up for fishing with sand crabs. Weights?Hooks?

Caorlina rig with a sliding egg sinker. Not sure on the exact weight of them b/c they have been in my box for years but id say they are 1/2 ounce probably a little less.
