Mulege Beach Fishing...

Anyone fish from shore in the Mulege area? I would love to fish for jacks, etc from shore, but have no idea where to even begin (meaning where, with what, line weight, etc.).

Will be in Mulege in July, so any input would be great.

Re: Mulege Beach Fishing...

The weather there can get oppressive that time of year, but the fishing will be excellent! I'm assuming you will be staying in Mulege. The best shore fishing is the area south of town, from the river mouth to Pt. Gallito which makes for a 10 mile streach of beach. The 1st mile is the best. Krocs are best for most of the Jacks that get in close & the occassional Sierra that venture in close to shore. There are tons of small grouper in the area & they prefer squid. We usually buy 4-5 boxes of 3lbs each while still at home. Lay them out in the sun where they can dry. Then salt them down with water purafier salt, alow the drain 0ne more day & pack them in a cooler with ice in freezer bags. They will keep for 3-4 weeks & make excellent cut bait.

Re: Mulege Beach Fishing...

I know heading south from the river on the sandy beach you can catch small roosterfish from shore.
