| Carlsbad first hali / surf fish 5/8/06
Hit up Cbad with my roomate Nate (Dos Mas). Got him out of his boat and took him on his first surf fishing trip. got to the beach at 5:00pm started working the beach, found a nice hole and bendo, a drag screamer, fought it for a while then I see it, my first surf "but". My heart starts racing, he doeasn't want to be beached. After a scary few minutes get him on the beach. Measured out 21" not bad for my first surf hali. Damn thing bit me when I was measuring it. ouch! released it and kept fishing.
A couple casts later and slamed again. Thinking I found the sacred "butt" hole. ha ha ha I ended up reeling in Mr. batray. worked it for a while longer and caught Mr. batray's twin bro.
Meanwhile Nate catches his first surf fish a BSP a bit of a dink but he's stoked! He endes up catching one more dink then he ties on a Kroc, and slam he's on. The fish started running and pulling drag. After a long battle he beaches a nice SNGF.
Then he hooks up a again however, it wasn't really a drag puller, just a hungry dink BSP. He hit a kroc about the same size as him!
Turned out to be a great/fun day
