Oxnard/Malibu Oct15th

So, I headed out today to my usual spots along PCH. Woke up at 2am, couldn't go back to sleep. Left here 4:45am, went to go pick my friend up and I realize on the way down the 5, I forgot my freaking digicam. WTF. So, pick him up and get onto PCH, finally get up to my spot around 5:45am. Pitch black out. We get out and start to rig up our stuff and this car pulls up behind us. These guys start to get out and I thought I'd have to whip some ass for people trying to steal the spot. Once a tiny bit of light comes out(about 6:15am), I climb down the rocks to my spot(On the rocks). My friend comes down a few minutes later and then we're about to fish!

I was using a 6' trout rod, 4lb main line and 4lb flourocarbon leader with a carolina rig setup. Put a 2 inch piece of Camo gulp sandworm on, cast out into the surf about 15 feet out. I turn the handle once to start reeling in and BAM! Hookup in less than 10 seconds of casting out. I'm trying to crank the fish in, I have to tighten the drag to get it over the rocks and I had a really nice Yellowfin Croaker, about a pound. Threw that back and then we started to unload on the perch. Just off of that spot, we were catching perch almost every cast at one point, but we ended up catching almost 40 between us till about 10:30am. Most of the fish were Walleye surfperch, but I caught a bunch of really nice BSP. We threw all of the fish back except for the one BSP my friend kept that was probably 3/4 pound for dinner. We started off using the Camo sandworms in the early morning and when it started getting sunnier, we switched over to the red sandworms and that worked really well. We then drove south, along PCH, fished several other sandy beaches and not ONE bite...wtf. Got back home around 2:30pm and had a great time. I guess Irvine Lake is next!
