Where to go, what to use?

My buddy wants to go fishing saturday. So I told him lets go hit the bay with the float tubes. Newport/Long beach area. He said no way he is getting in one of those. So any suggestions of a good jetti in the area to fish and what to use? since hes a little affraid of the water. preferable like long beach, seal beach. thanks.

thanks for the input guys. any other suggestions closer to long beach? I like the skiff idea but dont really want to spend the money. I would rather just sit on a jetti
