Sheephead from shore in Laguna??

Hi Folks
Just saw some pics a co-worker shared with me...his friend has found a spot in Laguna Beach that is kicking out 5-10lb Sheeps from shore. The guy had a full limit in less than 2 hours. Anyone willing to share the info via PM?

why dont you ask your co worker to ask his friend for you? There are a lot of spots like that in South County that kick out sheeps from the shore. Just look for exposed boilers or structure and pitch some baits

better tell your friend to enjoy fishing of Laguna while he can. The city council just voted to make the entire coast from south to north end of town and 3 miles out a marine reserve. The recomendation of closure was sent to Sacramento for their approval. This fits right in with the MLPA crap going on. There is an article in the most recent Western Outdoor News that is asking for a minimum of 500 emails to be sent to the councli members to voice your opinion on the closure. WON has the email addresses posted within the article.
The only vote against came from the only fisherman on the council. One of the council members comments on the issue was that this is just like the smoking ban. It seemed bad in the begining, but after time, everybody will realize the benefit.
Lets all voice our opinions to the council and let them know just what the consequences are of closing the coast in their city!!!

So much for spearfishing the boilers out there....

To the OP, follow Chris's advice. If you can reach the boilers or kelp beds with a cast, you have a shot at a sheepshead.

Wasted Energy to direct anything to the Laguna Beach City Council. That ship has sailed.

If you want to get involved, attend one of the local open houses, comment specifically about the areas subject to closure and also contact people who are still part of the decision making process.

hey man I live in laguna beach and so do alot of sport fisherman and commercial lobsterman.check LBINDY.COM for a local paper reader poll on the recent council decision. 64% were for keeping fishing open 36% agreed with the council decision.the council are a bunch of renegade enviros with the exception of the mayor kelly boyd.who is also a fisherman. you wanna catch sheeps from shore? go get some pismo clams and start working the rocks.look for boilers.use like 1/8 oz. lead slider with a mosquito hook on 12 lb line.when you find the fish you will get them.there not always in the same spot.you gotta move around
