North OC report 8-20. 2 corbs a spot a heqartbreak

Quick report as I'm still trying to compose myself. Hit the spot this morning. Got 2 corbs that where both about 18 to 19" and a nicer spotfin. Had the three by 7:15 am. Recast after the last corb and put the rod in the holder. 5 min later I see the rod tip jump. I grabbed the rod just as the line went tight and the rod doubled over. Reeled down on the fish and OH MY GOD!!!!! the fish almost spooled me on my 1500 Sedona on the first run. Got the fish back within 50 or so yards and then it freight trained me again!!!. Worked every trick I had for a 1/2 hr and still I hadn't seen the fish. Finaly the fish makes a move and runs into the skinny where I could get a good look at it. I kid you not I almost S^$%$^T myself when I saw what I had on the other end of the line. It was the biggest damn corb I've EVER seen. Made the 26" look like nothing. Faught the beast for another 20 min and it actualy beached itself on a sandbar that was out of my reach (75 yrds) do to a large trench between me and the corb. After 10 min I finaly dragged the fish off the bar and started working it back toward me. Just when I thought I had a good shot at getting it in the dang thing got into the current and almost spooled me again. Faught it untill 9am and it finaly poped my 4lb leader. that was a 1hr and a 1/2 battle!!!I'm telling you, that was a record fish. Thinking back I should have trunked it and swam and got the fish when I had the chance. Kicking myself now for tnot doing just that. I'm still shaking from the heartbreak. Had one of the customers to the shop watch me battle the beast for at least 45min. He actualy had to throw a couple rocks at some cranes to keep them away for the corb when it had beached itself. Oh man !!! what a morning. Got to get to work . when I get there I'm just going to sit back and think about the one that got away  .

tight lines,
Behdad
