Sports Forum Thread, This guy is a STUD in Nonsense Anything Boards; Damn, he really wanted to play real bad - enough to take a chance at totally ruining his knee.

selfish, but understandable. He is driven and wants to give his best, although desire may have clouded the fact that he couldn't perform at his best. LT, now there is class, took himself out of the race. Sure it is a decision between coaches and players, but I bet if he was asked how he felt, he was saying "fine coach, I'm ok". Many players will play hurt, but depending on the scope of his job, many can still contribute 100% or close, I personally think rivers did hold the team back, not saying they would have won......no one will ever know.

his stats showed he clearly out QB'd Brady. Rivers completions were also made 15 yards downfield not dumps to his RBs in the flats to have them run for 10 after the catch
he was hurt, he decided to play that way. Had they won no one would be saying anything but praise.
having no LT and only an infrequent Gates hurt them in the red zone more than Rivers' immobility. From my perspective it may have cost 1 TD (where he through the short dump off instead of to the man open in the end zone) but he was also avoiding a sack. Maybe if his knee was better he could have sidestepped.
River's wasn't the reason the Chargers lost so just give the guy some props for risking his career to try to pull off a miracle. No offense but some of ya'll sound a bit ungrateful. Do you honestly think Volek would have done better?

Ronnie Lott had his fingertip amputated so he could play in the Superbowl
Tyler Hamilton raced in the Tour of Italy for 2 weeks with a broken shoulder.
Cycling allows no meds so he did it without any help. Finished 2nd overall and had to have most of his molars recapped as he'd ground them all down, gritting in pain.

IMHO if the coaches thought we had a better chance with Volek he would have been in there. Rivers moved the ball, and despite the 2 interceptions we were in the game until the last 5 minutes of the fourth.
Our O-line didn't play up to their potential...again. I would like to believe the coaches pulled LT because they believed Turner would contribute more than an injured LT, but still would have liked to see LT run a few more plays before pulling the plug.
Our defense held the Pats to 3 scores, and gave our offense great field position but the offense only converted on one of 3 turnovers for only 3 points. You can not win against a team as good as NE with field goals.
That said...the tackling in the second half was terrible at times. Quite a few plays went for way to many yards after initial contact...probably because they were on the field so long...and every hit hurts real bad when it's that cold. Never seen so many terrible arm tackles, (I have but just not these guys especially the last few games).
Pretty damned good game though. We had a legitimate shot at the win until the very end. Great effort by everyone on the field. Thanks for the great year Chargers! You will be back next year, and so will we.
I'm happy for Junior. He will always be a Charger to me, and one of the best to ever play the game. He proved he still has it on one of the most crucial plays of the game yesterday busting threw our o-line and stopping a sure first down...possibly a touchdown...and he has class.
p.s. I told you to watch out for that Wilfork guy...personal foul...face mask six minutes into the game I think, (which cost his team 3 points), that guy is dirty, and yes...Rivers is a stud.

Rivers played a great game IMO.
I honestly think he only threw one real interception. If you watched the reply of one of those interceptions the pass was right on the money and placed perfectly all while Rivers was under heavy presure and about to go down.
Phillip Rivers is a true competitor and already is one hell of a quarterback.
You gotta know that LT had to be highly bummed big time not to be in there giving it his all. I honestly felt very bad for the guy.

With that said it was good to see Rivers man threw it though.

Having had my ACL torn and removed, All I can say is WOW! What a stud! They must have much better pain medicines available to them, And now that the game is over and he probably wont be receiving those same pain injections, I can tell you from experience, He's in a lot of pain now
