Re: Poll-What's the best time to Bug Hunt?

in the bays hoopn always at night from dusk till dawn.

after a rain when the fresh water flushes them from the jetties and exposed rock spots. when water is murky and no divers out!!! hoop the deeper spots. they go into the submerged structures.

whenever the water gets stirred up in the bays like a heavy current or we get pounded by waves as soon as its not too rough is a good time.

full moon dives are fun you see a lot of other stuff you just gotta look closer and entice em wit bait

incoming tides are easier if you're freediving cuz the tide pushes you into the rocks instead of pulling you away on an outgoing tide. as always the incoming tides you'll see other stuff come in to feed

Re: Poll-What's the best time to Bug Hunt?

One of the most memorable dives I have ever experienced was during a bright full moon.
It was in LJ off Marine st. in about 25-30 feet.
The vis was the best I have ever seen, day or night,30 plus.
The surge(early on) was absolutely zero.
I felt as if I were in a swimming pool, the sand seemed to glow from the moon.
Every now and then I would just stop on my knees and look up at the moon light shimmering down through the depths as kelp stalk shadows danced around me.
I beleive I ended up with around 5 keepers this dive.

So,to answer this poll, full moon,at nigh, slack tide with great vis.

I'll never give up the info again. Lost a couple great spots to big mouths. Really, most of you should know that already. Unless you are noobs. I know this is an old thread but there is 177 hours untill opener-07.

My people get blind folded at the dock so they don't know where they are catching their limits.

hey, this is for Bocker; YOU WISH!!! it's a lot harder to grab them then to sit on your boat drinking beer and waiting for them to crawl into your net(s). Ther are like fish with legs!
