i use a 4/3. in summer when water is 65-70 range its perfect and in winter when water drops in the 57-62 range i have a 2mm titanium short sleeve "jacket" i put on under suit with a 5mm hood and i stay toasty for 2-3 hrs. of course gloves & booties all year round for warmth and protection. lots of good freedive suits in the 3mm range that will work great. just combo up with a good titanium top in the winter and you should be good.

For best all around, 5mm is the compromise. Unless you really like being cold, a 4/3 will not keep you warm enough in Jan. through April.

It all depends on how cold you get in the water.

I'm always warm as I have an extra layer (I'm fat).

I use a 3mm for the spring, summer and fall. I use a 5mm for winter.

A good suit with a built in hood will help keep you warmer.

I use a 5mm year round, it gets pretty warm and is a bit much for summer months. Perfect for fall/winter. Sometimes I think I could use a 7mm during the winter though because I'm a pansy when it comes to the cold.

Spearfishing Suits - DiveSkin - Quality Neoprene Products

I've had mine for almost 4 years now and its still together. Some scratches around the knee area as they don't come with rubber knee pads unless you specify but other then that it is sound. A little compressed but it doesn't fit me anymore (got it right before I turned 16) and I need to get a new one soon. Just make sure you measure perfectly as that is how it will come.
