Nice sand bass

so... i was diving the rock pile in solana beach today and the vis wasn't amazing just a little bit of silt on the bottom. i was doing some lobster diving with the speargun just incase i ran into the barn door or a sheapshead or something. anyway, i had about 4 bugs in the sack and i was on my way in and saw a nice piece of structure in about 20ft of water. sure enough i go down and hit a very nice about 4 to 5lb sandbass. i was stoked! but... im on way in and im going through the breakers and i feel my spear got suddenly loose. right away i knew what happened. my effing spinner tip on my gun came undone with the fish still on it and i never saw the fish or the tip again! FML!!!!

I was doing the same thing diving for bugs and keeping my options open for fish with the spear gun. I come back to shore with a nice lobster and fish and game roles up on me and gave me a hard time for having a spear gun they thought i was shooting the bugs but obviously there were no holes in the lobster. still was not a nice experience

i that is effing retarded why the hell do they have to give you a hard time if you have your gun with you and plus what would it matter if you were shooting your bug as long as you get the limit it should be ok... thats what i think.

They consider the flopper a "hooking device." Lame.
