First time spear fishing

Went out Sunday with CaptLeo, out of tamarack to do a bit of spearfishing, had to double up on the wet suits to play it safe, cause it was cold as hell. Anyway i got a chance to use a speargun for the fist time and like a true pro i missed all my shots but i had a good time. Saw a nice female sheep head but she took off like a bat out hell, thought i spotted a nice sand bass but it turned out to be a baby leopard shark.
All in all we were out there foe 2-3 hours and we diddnt kill anything but it was good to be in the water.
Overall water temp was 58, vis was pretty good 5-10 feet hoping to go again this weekend.

nice man, at least you got out there. It takes a while to get your aim dialed in when you first start using a gun but before you know it you will hit your target 9 out a 10 times. I dive tamarack a lot in the summer and do well on the hali's, its a great little reef when its on.

its in carlsbad. exit tamarack ave from 5 and go to the beach. reef is around 100 yrds north of the jetty to a hundred yrds south of cherry st.

Yeah we went out of Cherry street, Nice little reef but no bugs. Tamarack got hit hard this year with the commercial bug guys but it is a killer place to dive. thinking about heading out again this weekend to another spot right down the road here in carlsbad, "secret spot" think i will go sunday i will keep posting to see anyones interested in coming along.

After the rain yesterday visibility is gona be zero!!! Give it a few days to clear up and let all the sewage and chemicals disperse. Have fun!
