Re: water vis

tell you what never go by what the san diego beach report goes by.... it sucks! beach report hotline 619-221-8824.

last week they said vis was 25+ in la jolla. I and a buddy left off of work to check things out. You couldn't see five feet in front of you.

I usually hit the mouth of the san diego bay, near or next to the jetty.

Have to agree with that. Its kind of like the Oceanside fish counts. sometimes it right on, but mostly just someones imagination.

Best thing to do is ask on this board and if someone has already hit it they can tell you what it was like, but it seems to change everyday.

Re: water vis

most accurate is experience in the water. Check surf size, tide, etc...From experience you will be able to get a better idea of whether or not it is worth going out. Asking around always helps too, get a buddy network.

Visibility is awesome! very clear as no surf in the horizon either. Late afternoon any wind has been dying off to very glassy conditions along the Cardiff and Leucadia cliffs. Kelp beds are alive!

Re: water vis

hit la jolla behind child's cove. the swim out is hell a lot of dead grass in the water. once you get into deeper water it clears up nicely. Fished out 15ft of water, and nice little valleys to fish in.

Re: water vis

the jeety is really a hit and miss. if i where you drive by the jetty and you see anyone coming out of the water in scuba gear, ask them what the water is like. it may save you from jumping in. Some times i've gone, it's been 15+, some times it's been where you couldn't even see your dick in front of you.

i say hit up 1 block south of La Jolla Children’s Cove. The water should be nice and perfect. Like i said lots of places to fish. Hell I saw two nice lobsters in the mid of day.
