I've had my best hunts in the early morning hours. From 1:00 am on was pretty good for me. Full moon, incoming tide.

Never dove for bugs but my dad has and says the best time is always at dark because they come out of there holes and walk around.

Anytime you can get out. From what I have found there is no perfect scenario. Some days they crawl. Other days with the exact same conditions they won't crawl.

I have sat for hours for nada. And then I get like 3 in about 15 minutes. BTW I have a camera on my net so I know when they are crawling. There is no better time then dark... I have found.
