From what I understand the $30 entry fee includes the T-shirt.
So if you wanted the shirt you might just have to pay the $30 fee anyways. However, I am not sure, this is just pure speculation on my part.

Lang will let you know next time out. I dive but have not speared anything in awhile. Mostly relaxing and checking out my fishing spots. Did see a nice group of 5 WSB in the 50# range last time out. Gotta love seeing those things.
maybe an idiot question, but I have never been to one of these, are we allowed to bring boats, kayaks etc? to get out there.
It is a SCRAMBLE meet format. But with a twist; In a normal scramble meet, you all start in one location and run to wherever, only to be back by X o'clock. Not to say the Fathomiers are fagging up a bit, but someone changed the name to a scrambles meet OPEN...( It is a MARKETING thing) and they got rid of the true SCRAMBLE format.... this year, you can start ANYWHERE, with no morning check-in. If you are GOOD...REAL DAMN GOOD, and know La Jolla, you could hit it for a WSB, a halibut, and a sheephead. 2 of those fish had better be over 20 lb. Because the regulators of this meet will be running boats. And they will likely be sleeping in places like San Nicholas, or Cortez banks this year looking for the win. I am a board member, and I personally dissaprove of the no shotgun start format. But the powers that be not thinking much voted the other way. And, funny as fuck, I have the fastest boat in the entire club. And a very good customer/ friend owns a company who runs offshore boats capable of 155+MPH.... so let's say, I am sure I can cover the distance to whatever fish I feel I need to win. But I am not necessarily doing that, because I feel that winning this meet in that fashion is unfair. Let's get it straight: The way this meet is set up is for someone to pad their resume. To show tremendous growth and participation.(NOT ME) So, if you can dive well, and know a nice hole to find a good sheephead, and some halibut, I suggest you enter the meet. Because the best laid plans often fail. And boats break down. And several good catches have been DQ'ed for being late. So, kayaks, helicopters, 2,000hp boats, and beach dives all count. Consistency is the key to this meet..... you need 2 fish near 20lb. to win.
Thanks Rojo, seen this on a couple of sites but your the first to open up the rules and such.
1 fish per species. 3 fish limit. Sheephead must be minimum 18" , calico/ sand bass must be 14" . All other size limits are governed by the DFG rules. Weigh in is 3PM SHARP! Our recorder this year is a very rules oriented guy, so he will blow the horn at 3... And as for thinking the coast diver could not win this, I have won it diving the coast, and 2 years ago Rene Rojas won it diving the beach. Which beach is a secret... good spots are like that. Strategy is more important than anything else. If I were a beach diver, I would #1. Find a spot with more than 1 sheephead over 15lb. And, the area had better be a place that holds either WSB or halibut. Don't depend on Yellowtail unless you have a boat. And, if you dive the meet, take some advice: Shoot the first big opaleye you see, to get it over with. Big opaleye win meets. If you wind up with a pair of good fish, but miss your #3 fish, you just might need a big opaleye to win. If you don't take an opaleye, you may be in the!!
