130' to get a holed up grouper. I wish I could even be half as good a freediver as this guy. Try holding your breath while watching the video, now imagine kicking to the bottom and back up also........... http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...q=spearfishing
The guy is "Santiago Oliver" from the Balearic Islands in Spain.
Here is the fish............

Amazing, But also very foolish. No fish is worth your life.

Some things to consider.1, He is world class. 2, he is only using a 2-3mm suit, not the 1/4" we use in Ca. 3. He rode a weight down, looked to be 5-8lb of weight. He went in and 2nd shot a fish already on in a hole.
I went 122ft. in 2004 while scouting for the national championships in Hawaii, and spent literally days diving between 75-110 ft. All freediving. And the difference between 100-110 ft is about the difference between a 10lb kelp paddy yellow, and a 50lb mossback. The extra 10ft is very difficult. I have been only 8 ft shy, and I can't imagine pushing for that last 8 ft, even to try and save a friend. Crazy. |

Thats some serious shit. What if the grouper came out and wrapped him up in his own shooting line? You always have to think of the variables. However he was able to pull it off this time. But one of these times his luck might run out. And we will probably be hearing about it.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
