A lot of people refer to pole spears as hawaiin slings. From my understanding, hawaiin slings actually shoot something. I have a pole spear and dont think you can get a bad one. I just made sure mine had a changeable tip and I got the gnarly single tip that comes off and turns sideways to lock the fish on.

For starters, get a JBL polespear, and a 5 prong trident style tip. Don't bother with a 3 prong paralyzer tip. My computer is going down in flames quick, so I may not be able to get back to you for a bit. But there is endless info on Spearboard.com. You can always call me with any questions you have about spearing fish. Paul. 714-801-5514.
