Malibu 4/8, 4/10

I hit up a couple of my favorite spots in Malibu on monday as well as today. Monday I was only able to dive for about an hour. The current was ripping pretty hard and the vis was just so-so, with the wind picking up as the day went on. Despite the unfavorable conditions, I was able to kill a couple of goats to bring back to campus for the grill.

Today, the vis and conditions were better. I got in the water at about noon. I missed a LARGE sheephead in shallow water. I took poor shot from directly above it and ended up missing. As I was about go head in, I saw a halibut swim right under me and settle in the sand below. Easy shot and It was a done deal. Nothing large, but legal none the less. I was able to clean my gear and the fish and make it to class at 3:00. Im eating good tonight!

Nice Halibut bro. So do u drag that bodybord around when you dive or do u tie it off to something?

It serves three purposes. It help me kick out (which is a heck of a lot easier than swimming), to attach my stringer to, and to tie my float line to. Once I am hunting, I just kinda let it follow me. Its not that hard to drag around and it definately saves more energy than it burns.

When you dive does it ever get wraped up in kelp? I would think it would if u go for a dive.

It sometimes gets a little wrapped up but the more you use it the more comfortable you get with it and the less often it gets tangled. But diving with a float line on a board has worked great for me.

Right on Travis. Looks like fun. By the way I'm no longer in the boat club so I am just a boatless ho like you now.
