| Great fishing in Oahu!
Well guys since I recently joined the club I have only had a chance to meet a few of you so far. So far I have met quite a few good people. I remember telling Fox and the rest of you that I have met so far that I was going to Hawaii for a few weeks and would be doing some fishing during the time that I was there. Well here goes my report. I am currently on the island of Oahu and so far so good. I have searched the forums here on Bloody Decks to find that the boat "LIVE BAIT" was by far the boat to charter. Well I followed the advice of many BDer's and not to my surprise it paid off. I have to say that Captain Shannon was nothing less than amazing. He put us on the fish almost immediatly. Within an hour and a half of being on the water we were hooked up to a 100# + ahi (yellow fin). I landed the fish and off we went, back to the hunt. The whole time that we were trolling I saw ahi boiling on the surface in football field size schools. These fish were chasing bait right on the surface. I have never seen 100-200 # class yellow fin come flying out of the water like porpoise. These fish were completly air born. It was not long before we had another large tuna on the line. My friend fought the fish to the boat and the crew gaffed and decked the fish. After the second fish was put into the fish box we were off and headed towards a huge bird pile. Captain Shannon made a perfect pass, pulling the jigs through the birds and BLAM we were hooked up on not one but two tuna. We managed to land one of the two tuna and then we found the bird pile again and made another pass. We hooked up almost immediaty on the second pass. We ended up landing the fish and calling it a day. We had filled up both fish boxes and both my friend and I were happy with our catch. I want to thank Captain Shannon and the crew of the LIVE BAIT for an absolutly spectacular trip. It was a great day out on the water and the fresh sashimi at the docks was great. I highly recommend Captain Shannon and the LIVE BAIT for anyone wanting to fish in Oahu. We ended up being one of the top boats that day which was not a surprise after the day of fishing that I had just experienced. Captan Shannon is the one hanging off of the back of the boat behind bloody deck and a big ahi tuna. I wish good fishing and tight lines to everyone.
