Why join?

I have been fishing SD for the past 32 years, strictly saltwater. Bay, beach and charter. Don't have a boat. Could I still join? What would be the benefits for someone without a boat?

You don't need a boat to join and if you want to hook up with some guys with boats looking for crew to share the cost it is a place to start. About 1/3 of the members of the club are active Bloodydeck members too.

Each month at the club meetings we have discussions with guest speakers on topics around fishing in SoCal and Baja. We also have a raffle at each meeting and typically raffle off some decent fishing gear ( I won a Tigra 16 back in November).

We also do tournaments each month as well as participate in tournaments from other clubs such as the SWYC bottom fish coming up this weekend.

We also do many events throughout the year for Children of the Troops. We take kids of deployed troops out for fishing on some of the local boats and to local lakes.

If you are interested in joining the club you can come by one of the meetings to just check it out or just shoot me a PM. We meet the first Thursday of each month at the Bali Hai Restaurant on Shelter Island. Happy hour starts at 6:30 and the meeting starts at 7 PM.

Just join. There's plenty of guys with nice boats down there looking for someone to fish the tourneys with.

Plus...you might just learn something.
