Sorry to dredge up an old post, but I fished with Art on the '09 June Heat trip. Art is a fucking WING NUT, (apologies to Shawn Steward.)
We were fishing for Giant Yellowfin Tuna, and this fucking idiot is fishing a two hook rig with a lb of lead trying for Threadfin Sculpin! He has no idea where he is or what he's doing. I was on a cow and his spectra was wrapped around my topshot. Lucky for me it was 200 lb Izorline. He was pulling on it and the crew guys had to take the rod away from him so they could get his line off mine. Bottom line, we got the fish, my first cow at 208.
But, Holy Shit! What a knucklehead!

A nice little story about Sonnys fish .
We were sitting down havin a nice bite to eat and he looks over at me a says ( Fred
I have fished with you now for a few years and you have shown me how to fish with a small skip jack . I say O yea , he says yea the OPPOSITE of what you do and he walks off ). Now I would be a little pissy about it but he was right ,I got a few cows in my day but not with a skippy .Not 30 mins goes by and he is on that big fish . We had fun when he was up the rail with it ,and a few of us got to help bring it thru the gate .
Sonny is a great guy a little back ground on him is a few years ago we all had cows most of us had more than 1 ,I know Bob M had a few , I had 5 that would go over the mark and Sonny well he had NONE a few 190s but not one cow and was a little blue but took it like a MAN witch I think only a few people could do . Boy did he get us back with that big fish .
I talk to Sonny now and then so what is posted I will tell him about it .
Our trip leaves 1/6/2010 a nice 15 day on the RR3 we have a few spots open so give the office a call 619 224 3857 or give me a pm .

We're sliding back on the anchor at Hurricane. The Wahoo are thick, like cockroaches! Andy calls them Vermin, we need to catch some tuna. You can wait until the anchor hangs, decide to give the tuna chance to gather to the boat with the chum, and say to yourself, "I think I'll catch one Wahoo and then fish tuna." One cast, three cranks of the handle and you're on, it was that sick!
As we're sliding back on the anchor, Art has already hooked up as he was sliding a Wahoo bomb BEFORE they dropped the hook and Andy put it in reverse. Here comes Art, up the Port side all the way to the bow with this fucking Wahoo. They guys have got their hands full with the anchor and then it's, Oh, sure, no problem Art. Just give us your rod and we'll try to pass it under the andhor line as we're letting it out and trying to get it to hang. We really have nothing else to do at the moment!
God Bless the old Fart! He's caught a lot of big fish. I hope I'm able to fish into my seventies. He's still out there in his eighties. So, what the fuck, I take one 15 day trip and all of a sudden I'm the expert? Ya gotta laugh sometimes just to keep from crying.

Great group of guys on that trip, i wish i was going this year.

Dylan and I are going. It will probably be a little weird for Dylan being a passenger after working the deck all summer, but the first time he gets to sleep when he wants to, I expect he'll get over it.
