Islander 5 day at The Lupe Oct 24-29

First Report here...I owe much thanks to a few key people for without them I would have never been able to swing this trip. This being my first long range fishing adventure...I call it an adventure because that's what it was from the from the very beginning...First driving through the wildfires on Tuesday night, and meeting up with Jim "Titan05" for a quick stop off the 5 to pick up several rods & reels to "use & abuse" on this trip. Not many like him around any more...He has got the itch for long range fishing and is happy to help others enjoy this great sport...THANK YOU JIM!

We get to the landing to meet up with the other 17 fisherman 14 of which are part of the Dana Point Rod & Reel Club, A great bunch to fish with. Luke was our "Charter Master" and one of the best fisherman I have ever had the pleasure to fish with and learn from. Once we got settled on the boat Shane & John gathered us in the galley for a quick pow-wow on what WE wanted to do and where WE wanted to do it...The vote was for the Lupe knowing it was a scratch bite...This was to be a tuna trip! So we loaded up with some nice deans and headed straight for south end of the Island.

Day 2 : produced a few Yellows and my first Yellow Fin Tuna (donated for sashimi)
Day 3 : 12 Yellow Fin Tuna (I hooked 2 & lost both)
Day 4 : PAY DAY! I hooked 11 Yellow Fin Tuna & landed 7....Yea!

The Islander is a "fishy" boat with a great crew....this is a first class operation. If you get the opportunity to fish this boat...DO IT!

Hi Jim, We got back to SB about 2 and were done with our rough cuts by 6. I did some major vacuum packing today and I'll be smoking & canning tomorrow. We had some for dinner just now and it was better than any fish I have ever had.
I forgot to mention our chef "Paul" on the Islander....You F#cking ROCK man!

Great report. Glad you had a great time. Jim is that kind of guy. He will go the extra mile to help someone an ask's nothing in return. Alot of us in here like that. But fuck over him,,,,,,look out. An that man can fish. Looking forward to our June trip with Steve K on the AA.
