Re: Lupe October

Clear or green. I thought green was a joke at the island until I watched a guy hook 4:1 compared to everyone else.

Re: Lupe October

go with the clear and bring your flourocarbon and ringed hooks. Don't be afraid of the long soak especially from the bow. Sometimes you can sneek one or two by the landlord while he's busy making lobster bait at the stern.

He could have been using a slightly smaller hook, or maybe a short top-shot. Did you happen to notice the size of the baits he was throwing? Possibly a different style or hook placement in the bait? Were his baits just freshly pulled from the deck tank or had they been sitting in the handwell for longer than five minutes? Did he cast from one side of the boat or the other, maybe the bow? Were his casts overhead or a gentle lob with a quick back spin on the spool of the reel?

Maybe he was just a good fisherman.

There are so many other things to consider than just line color.
