People go on these late summer/fall 5 day trips to fish Guadalupe. Conditions can change over night and it is still borderline early. Sept. can be the prime month for the island. If the island is slow, so be it but you want the option to try.
I am stoked they got the permits for everyone involved (anglers and boat owners). Also read on Roeckers web site that they are two year permits so no worries next year.

Lupe is open--but nobody is home................................Yet.
"We have tested the waters. Guadalupe Island has been given a good check twice over and not much sign of life... yet! Fish are going to move in soon, the water has beautiful blue color and there is plenty of bait in the water. We managed a few small tuna and a couple of bass but that was it. There are still a two days of fishing this trip and Capt Norm has the Shogun pointed toward the albacore grounds once again. The weather has improved in that area and we are going to give it our all."

I think I'd rather fish Cedros for the big yellows than a slow day at Guadalupe.

Im sure a few boats have checked out Lupe before the permits.... | Here's a quote from Bill Roecker's website on the return of the Qualifier 105. The words are from Joe Crisci and make a lot of sense. Nice to have an option.
“We’re all chompin’ at the bit to fish Guadalupe,” said Crisci. “It’s 310 miles between the albacore grounds and Cedros, and there’s nothing in between. At least now, we’ll have that option to check out Guadalupe.”
