J hook 100percent
if you are on a tight budget buy mustad 2/o hooks and tie a rapala knot giving it the exact same movement as a ringed hook

if you have money to spend buy owner 1/o and 2/o J hook live bait ring possibly a 3/o depending on bait size/type

I think..after looking over all this..the IMPORTANT THINGS ARE.
1. Fish with a HOOK and terminal tackle and knot YOU"RE confident in using!
2. Hooking a good Dine with a Circle Hook...takes practice like anything else-easy!
THE IMPORTANT THING, and I'm sure veteran's like David will agree on this...
TAKE TIME to get the LIVELIST BAIT..get a GOOD BAIT and hook it RIGHT!
THAT is the KEY to a sucessful BITE...on either type of hook! You don't have to
see how fast you can yank a dine, sqeeze him to death and cast wildly into the
frey every time the jigs go off. Many times..I wait and butt hook a GOOD DINE..
simply drop it off the stern...let him run...and GET BIT! Try THAT sometime!!

It's always fun to buy a variety of gear, but for all intensive purposes the Mustad 94150 is the way to go. On my last 5-day trip I pretty much only used 3/0 and 4/0 bronze hooks. I usually buy the 50 packs from Squidco.
