Rice Bowl Charters July 2.5 5th-8th

Well our first day it was mostly stratch fishing , not really a time when they would crash the boat.
And our second day didn't get ant better with more than 50 plus boats around us.
I would have to say for me the highlight of the trip was to see that the kids on the boat got thier 1st Albacore. And the new Rice Bowl Girl worked out real well.

Right on, Fred. Some days are good, some are better. They can't all be 200+ fish days. I understand it's been pretty crowded out there. Time for that larger body of fish to go on the chew a little better.

Aug 2......hope the bait holds up because that is the only thing keeping these fish from moving VERY QUICKLY to NoCal and beyond. May want to start hoping for more kelp paddie Yellowtail and Dorado. Not trying to be a hater, but water continues to warm-up very quickly right now.......water should be 70 degrees by Aug.......when that happens, bye bye fishies! Get em while they are here! Good luck with your trip!

We're back out on the Islander for a Rice Bowl trip this year on the 8/16-19 trip. Greg, send me your email and I'll send you the pic of the "new" Rice Bowl Girl.

That trip was my first "Rice Bowl". Great trip, great group. Just pace yourself drinking those rice bowl girl shots before the trip.

Bye-bye Albacore, but hello Yellow Fin Tuna, Dodos, BET, don't know about Yellowtail...sure is strange there aren't many on the paddies yet. It seems to be a more "normal" season so far this year. The Albies showed up right on time...in numbers. There is a good mix of Blue Fin Tuna, (even though they aren't coming up to play because they are spooked from the heavy seiner pressure), they are here. If it continues the current pattern I think we may see two or three weeks in early August where not much of anything gets caught, (transitional period), and then the Yellow Fin Tuna, and other Pelagics move in. We fish those through September, (primetime for this Year's Tuna Challenge), and then the BET. I think we should see a pretty good Carp season as well...maybe not the best, but very good. Maybe even one, or two nice Blues.

Yep...that sounds good to me. See how good fishing can be sitting behind a keyboard. A guy can dream though. In the mean time I'll just get out there when I can, and have fun no matter how good...or bad the bite is. Good luck to everyone as the season progresses. Be safe, and have fun. I'm looking forward to fishing with more of you this year. Now go get some!
