I have a 5 day trip coming up next Saturday. I've tried all week to get ahold of Mike Burns so he can process my fish (if I catch any). He hasn't returned any of my phone calls or e-mails. Has anyone used his service lately? Is he sick again? I hope he's okay. I just can't afford the 75 cents a pound charged by the other services. Any suggestions? Thanks,TP

mario will do it cheaper than 5 star. and he does a good job.
if you wanna find world famous, take 805 south to university, hang a right, then a second past the third hooker on the left. if you scare a bunch of crackheads out of the dumpster, youre in the right place.

Shaky ground here, but I'm goin' out on a limb. If it's this hard to get in touch with him to give him your fish, imagine having the same difficulty getting them rom him.
It seems that if Mike shows up at the Big Three on your departure day, which is highly probable, you can make arrangements then and there. If he shows up again on the day you return, you're in business. Just go directly to his shop and hang out by the back door and wait for your fish. Take them fresh, packed on ice. If you wait for a single day, you'll get frozen fish.
Good luck

I think what Steve said is pretty fair. Mikes guys do a great job and at a great price, but no matter what he says, he is very hard to get in touch with. Myself and several others that defended him at various times have put in numerous calls, faxes with a message written on them etc, and have never gotten a call back. If he is there on arrival date id go with him to his shop and get my fish, other wise id pay the extra jack and use the others at a higher price. Your catch is important and leaving it in the hands of someone who is sometimes reliable is risky.

Some say Mike "Burns" you...........I've had good luck with him...Just follow his truck back to his shop, watch the guys cut and vaccum pack "YOUR" fish, pack it in ice, and go home...I ate some Yellowtail the other day that he did last season....it was still excellent. You are rolling the dice if you go for his smoked stuff. Oh it tastes great, but chances are you will never get it out of the shop.

Hi Guys,
Mike's still there on University. He has done all my fish for years and he always treats me right. Since there are a few people bagging on him, I want to let you know a few things about Mike that are good stuff.
While our Marines are over in Iraq getting shot at, Mike Burns is home donating literally thousands of pounds of fillets to the wives and families of the absent Marines at Pendelton.
Mike not only donated 800 pounds of fillets to my church to feed the homeless, he showed up and help cook and serve it.
Last thing: Mike will pack YOUR fish in dry ice and Fed Ex it or deliver it to you if you are local.
I will continue to give all my business to Mike Burns. He may not be perfect, but he's one hell of a generous man.
Mike

The quality of the packaging and the cut is no problem for me. Seems to be a major communication problem. I would not mind a 10 cents a pound increase if he would use the money to hire somebody to answer the phones at the store/shop and return messages. Drives me nuts.

I certainly wasnt bagging on Mike. Shit ive been in nasty arguements defending the guy. His product is as good as it gets. All im saying is that he could use some help in the communication department. When you pay thousands for the trip you like to get a call to know he will be at the boat. But yeah, Mike is a nice guy in person and his crew is excellent with the knife and they are fast and fillets are the bomb.

Go along with Jason an Steve. Have used his services many times. It is rough getting in touch with him, but his service is fantastic. Last trip he met me with 5lbs of smoked and 8 qts of spread, picked up fish week later an received every pound. Its amazing when on the boat an the skipper informs us of the tagging for the processors. They never mention WFSF. Never. Yet when we come in, alot of us are having him do our fsh. I know a cpl who have had problems, but I know more who have never had any.

I have used all 3 and went back 5 Star on my recent 8 day last month. I ask for express service as I am driving back the the Bay Area and want get going ASAP. I had 500+ # processed and was on the road by 9:30 am and sometimes if you ask really nice they will give a discount. The place is spotless and i like they way they trim the loins. Mario is a personality rub with me and Mike is just a little to flaky and hard to get a hold of but does cut fish nicely

World Famous- "Good" product, but impossible to get hold of, does not return calls quickly, also received "OPP" when i went to pick up "my" fillets
Mario- Better, but costs another few pesos, good stuff, me happy.
5 Star- Best- good price, call you back, give you YOUR fillets back, owners wife is hot and nice to look at when picking up/dropping off.
You get what you pay for.
