Re: dropper loop reel

You dont want to fish dropper loop on 60# at Lupe. More Like 80# minimum and 100# preferred. There are 60# plus fish there. Some say fish to 100# lives there. Go gold or something anodized. Avet pro 30, maybe SDS??????? Or Tiag 30 or 50

Re: dropper loop reel

Leave the 60 in the rack and go with the 100 and be ready to get worked.

Matt since your in Long Beach come by the shop (Baja Fish Gear) we'll set you up with everything you need for fishing the Lupe..80# set up minimum is needed...like they said Tiagras, Avet and TLD 2 speeds are perfect.
If the Tuna roll through 40-50# set up is needed too Avet J/X or L/X 2 speeds or even the new Accurate 870 2 speed are perfect in that case...

Steve

The motion has been seconded, all in favor say "Aye!"

The motion is carried!

Now I'll tell you the part that no one else did. If you have an old red Penn 6/0 laying around, you can use it too! Just make sure that you beat the drag star down hard before you go on the trip as you do NOT want to give the fish ANY line. There is no finesse in this kind of fishing. It is a straight up bar fight style slugging match!

FISH HARD!

Re: dropper loop reel

More fish have been killed there with that reel and it's little brother the 4/0 but you better wield that star drag down and you'll be praying for that low gear after about 5 minutes. It'll be a battle you'll remember on a 50lb yellowtail. Enjoy the lupe theres no place like it
