1 Piece or 2 Piece. What about curved butts? Suggestions?

On heavy outfits 40-100 and 50-120 do you have to go with a one piece rod? What do I sacrifice if I use a 2 piece rod? Any one try the mini-curved butts?
Going on my first 16 day trip next year. I am planning on building a few heavier rods for the trip.

Re: 1 Piece or 2 Piece Curved butts? What's the deal

Yes you should go with one piece rods on the heavier stuff. I am not even sure if 2 piece rods are made in those ranges? Only reason I see for them is because they are more compact hence easier to travel with. If you are planning on going on a 16 day sounds like you want to target some big tuna. If thats the case you should try to look at Calstar and Seeker blanks. You can also buy them wrapped and ready. I am sure Wahoodad and others can chime in and recommend some great blanks. I don't think you want to go that low in the ratings of what you call heavy stuff 40-100 and 50-120. Heavy stuff on the long range boats would be #80 and up rated sticks.

2 piece trout rod w/curved butts work great for catfish. good luck. Never used a curved butt sorry, just had to give a smart ass remark. Two piece store nice I guess and when you screw it on you feel like you're getting ready for battle. cheers p.s. I'm drunk.
