size, types of hooks/swivels
J hooks for yellowtail and some quality circles for tuna. You need all sizes from 1-4/0 cuz you don't know what size bait you'll have. I fish mostly 3/0 and 4/0 J hooks. I always have my 60 lb outfit setup with a 25' topshot, probably fluorocarbon with a quality circle hook attached. It sits in the rack with the cover on the reel, ready for action if the captain calls for the heavy gear. As for swivels, the only ones I use are the barrel swivels on my double SS hook for trolling feathers.
Types/sizes/colors of Jigs/bombs
Last year was fucking amazing on surface iron on Yellowtail. Take some Salas 6X and 7X and Tady equivalents if you have them, usual colors. You also need at least half a dozen pieces of yoyo iron, maybe more. 6X and 6XJr and the like. Blue/white gets bit, so does scrambled egg. No jigs or bombs for wahoo. This is not a wahoo trip. Now that I've said that, you'll probably catch one. I'm leaving my whole tray of wahoo jigs and bombs at home.
That's about it unless you're a fan of fishing the dropper loop. Then you'll need some weights, 10-16 oz one or two each? That's a lot of weight to carry. Call the office and see if they have it in sufficient quantity onboard and just buy it when you need it. Oh yeah, don't forget your stringer and a couple of jars of Power Bait.
Which trip is yours?
