spectra to spectra connections

What is your go to, no failure, connection for solid spectra - solid spectra?
I've been testing the uni-uni for this, and am not real confident in it.
Any problems with just tying 2 biminis and looping them?
Would a sleeve of hollow with overhand knots and glue work? Got an overhand knot in my mainline once, resulted in a breakoff.
There has to be a strong, reliable connection for this. Help.

Re: spectra to spectra connections

In your situation, I have found that the Bimini's on each line, connected with a 4-turn loop-to-loop, works great!!!!

The knots are small and will go thru the guides easily.

You could sleeve it, crimp it and off you go. (more costly & time consuming)

Re: spectra to spectra connections

Jerry Brown recommends a uni-uni for solid to solid connections with a bit of his glue for insurance. I've used this and never had a failure.

Re: spectra to spectra connections

I'm with rodbldr on that, uni-uni and a drop of superglue.

Re: spectra to spectra connections

Guess I wasn't putting enough wraps on the uni. Just tried a few by wrapping each uni 12 times, was only wrapping 5 or 6 times.
Tested with 40#. Knot broke at 31#. No glue.
Feel much better about this knot now. Won't forget to use the glue!

Cliffman, why a 4 turn loop to loop, instead of 2?

No special reason. It works for me, more wraps. The two turns would hold just as well.

I, too, agree on the double uni's.
