Re: braid HD crimper

Without question, the best tool out there. Once you develop a technique to ratchet it partially shut so you can get your hands around the grips it becomes a piece of cake. NO, failures so far. Also, very important, read the instructions so you will know how to open the jaws if for some reason you get the sleeve stuck in the groove at an angle. Fast and easy and the pressure on the sleeve will always be exact.

looks nice, probably heinously overpriced, like the rest of the braid stuff.

Re: braid HD crimper

Lets see, at around $89.00, give or take, to ensure your hooks are crimped perfectly and quickly every time, on a 2700 - 5800 dollar trip where you have spent thousands in tackle and equipment, hundreds or thousands in spectra etc, and we are referring to $89.00 Vs. $30.00, for a feel type crimper, as over priced or expensive then dude you need to go to a fly fishing tackle store and get your head on straight. I have two of these things so I can crimp hooks at two stations. Expensive...... Naawwww Now, if you are fishing under 80# test then you don't need any crimpers for attaching hooks, anything above, you will love this tool. JMHO

dude, lets be honest, anyway you look at it, braid products cost a lot more than their competition. Not saying they arent good, just saying they cost more than they should. comprende?

Didn't mean to come off so strong however it is not a question of over priced equipment. We are not comparing apples to apples. Here is a tool that does not require an angler to develope a feel for crimping like the other hand squeezer's. Instead it becomes almost foolproof and lets face it, easier and fool proof are worth some extra dinero.

Re: braid HD crimper

They don't cost that much for what they are? I used to think they were expensive, but then I started looking at how much we spend on these trips. 75 bucks or whatever it is ain't shit for a crimper you will probably have for a long time. I don't see anything that is better or cheaper on the market?

Re: braid HD crimper

You mean Dennis developed a crimper especially for HD? I heard he got his nuts in a vice somewhere, but that's a bit much.

Sorry Bruce. I've been away for a couple of weeks.

Re: braid HD crimper

I've been using these crimpers for over 2 years now...they are great...until they rust and then the ratcheting system fails...and they become just a regular crimper...and they rust really fast...but they are good until they take a crapper...

Re: braid HD crimper

7-strand, jinkai, pretty much all of them are good...believe it or not i have never had a crimp fail...but we only use them on 130# or bigger...and only on our lure rigs...we tie knots in everything up to 300# (which is the strongest leader we use) on all our bait rigs...
