So i wanna make sure im not offending anyone by doing this.............

my father passed away last week, and we had been planning on going on the june 4th 7 day aboard the royal star.

so im going, and he would have wanted me to take someone who would really love it and fall in love with long range fishing. as of yet im still undecided who is going in his place.

anyways, i wanted to take some of his ashes and spread them down at alijos, he would want part of himself to be there. i guess my question is : have any of you ever seen anyone do this? would any of you be offended by my doing that? i really dont want to piss anyone off.

I would talk to the boat, I wouldn't be offended but it is their call. And yes people have done this.

I would talk to the owner of the boat. Personally if I was on the boat I would think it would be an extremely respectful and touching thing to see.

Not at all. It would be an honor. If you decide to do it locally you might talk to this guy: http://www.ashesonthesea.com/

i spoke to randy's (the skipper, part owner) wife today, and she didnt seem to have a problem with it.

ill talk to randy himself when i go down there tommorrow.

the big reason we were planning that trip on the star is that my father really respected randy. he always told me to judge people by what they do, and not what they have. and randy is probably one of the nicest guys on the planet. im sure he wouldnt have a problem with it.

thanks for the support guys.

the ashes on the sea thing looks nice and all, but dad was a fisherman, he would want to be scattered off the back of a fishing boat down at alijos or wherever the good fishing was!

Personally, if I were on the boat, I would not be offended.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Sounds like a fantastic way to honor him.

thats awesome.

I dont think any of the long range guys.....crew, owners, or passengers, would have a problem with it.

sorry for your loss, amigo.

as an aside, my remains are to be scattered at sea by my fishing buddies, after a troll stop, and only if they get bait fish going. Seriously.

Sorry for your loss.

I personally want my ashes scattered at the Northeast corner of Clarion.

And I would be honored to be in attendence as you scatter your father's ashes.
