A little tolerance goes a long way, especially when we're all in a confined space for an extended period of time, living, dining, traveling, and fishing together.

But, instead of it being a matter of tolerating guys who take up more than their fair share of space with not just the one tackle bag, but several pieces of fishing "luggage" why can't it be more? Why can't it be about being respectful of the rights of our fellow angler who paid just as much as the next guy and is entitled to be allowed to enjoy his vacation as much as anybody else, as long as it's not at the expense of another's enjoyment?

David, always good to hear your 23 cents worth.

I have a feeling this thread is going the way of "that guy" and is in danger of being closed, but I hope not.

Steve the point is that you have a very diverse group of people, usually middle aged or retirment aged men. Everyone of them has a different idea of what being polite is, everyone of them has a different idea of what respecting other peoples space is about. and none of them are going to change their ways for the sake of you or me or anyone else.
If youre letting someone take away the enjoyment of your trip because he brought too many sticks or leans his troller/jig rod up against your box between stops, you need to just save yourself the time and money and just fish charter boats in PV or Cabo or something.

The point is, let it go. your life will be much easier and less stressful if you stop letting it bother you.

Obviously, this string has proved the above to be an extremely delusional statement. Maybe it's time to take a breath & realize just the how the worm turns. You old grunts will recall it only takes one trip into the grinder to I.D. the future shit burners, & similarly, it only takes a short time in the confinement of about 90 linear feet to pick out whatever profiles might twist your johnson - a very convenient circumstance which helps immensely in either avoiding them, confronting them, or putting up with them. Go fish! Have fun!
I'm outta here.

These are the kind of people that always take their half out of the middle.

It's nice to know that this doesn't describe you.
Fishious I agree with you 100%...... Just having some fun with my buds......I probably have the smallest 10/15 day tackle box/bag of almost anyone, it's a soft bag 15"long 12" high and 12" deep...I keep most of my stuff in my state room....reel bag stays in my room or up top....heck most trips all you really need fits in a 3700 tray.

From now on Titan05 and I are just gonna use SteveK's stuff and not even bring a bag....he has the best of everything and it only costs me .23...

A technique I learned by accident, but now use on a regular basis... "Oh my god! I left my tackle box in the garage - does anyone have a hook they can lend me? And some line to tie it to? And a reel to put the line on? And..."

You can just about leave all your stuff at home like that.

You know, I like that. Pretty matter of fact statement, not a lot of fluff. Straight to the point.

I doubt seriously that any angler who might be the kind of guy who takes up more than his fair share of space is going to be affected by all of these replies, all of these opinions by all of these anglers, here on BD.

If all we do is raise a conciousness in our own group that we don't have to take it, we're better off than we were last year. As somebody already said, things do seem to be changing somewhat, and as our sport becomes more and more civilzed, captains and crews will adopt some rules fo all anglers to live by, and one of them will no doubt touch on this very topic. Just one more area to cover in the opening seminar at the bait receivers.

Man you can sure stir up some shit Steve,,... But he's right. But he is as guilty as all of us are of bringing too much gear. I have 6 scar's on my left arm from iron, hooks on sticks in the rack walking by. Needles to say I cut an threw them over. Rods laying against the bench and in the trash cans burn my ass. Rocket launchers have their place but not midships so it resticts casting. And Fishy, hell you work out of my bag. You people should have seen the gear on the landing on last years Interpid trip....I have watched guys put two three boxes on the racks an make like no one see's them. I have walked up, taken the box down and said stow it on top. I could care less If I hurt anyones feelings when they become a hog. Best start before the bait receivers then the air is clear. We (Fishybuzz) an myself have kept the little shit down stairs and just worked out of my bag, or Titans, or Steves for that matter, We share. I can tell you this, If I trip over a stick because some lazy bastard leaves it lieing around for someone to hurt them selfs, you can bet it will be in two pieces.

Have too much for your stateroom, store it topside. And, stop putting your sticks in someone elses #. I find one in mine. I take it to the bow an put it there. Funny as shit when they run to grab it an its gone.
